IAHE Board Scholarships Application

The Paris Chapter 5 of the IAHE is once again offering scholarships for 2016. Three $500 scholarships will be offered. Two will be available for engineering majors (civil or computer) and the third scholarship is available for any IAHE member or immediate family member in any curriculum at an accredited college or university. The statewide IAHE scholarships that are available are two $1,500 and one $500. Deadline for application is April 25, 2016, and ALL scholarship applications (statewide and Paris Chapter), shall be submitted to the IAHE scholarship committee. If you have any questions, please contact Bridgette Borries-Pierson, Chairman, or scholarship committee members Derek Bridges or Rita Mathias.

Lead CADD Operator-Program Development

I started with IDOT in June of 1999. I attended Parkland College and graduated with an A.A.S. in Civil Construction Technology. Prior to working at IDOT I worked primarily in the private sector in surveying, drafting and was a structural steel estimator just before coming to IDOT. I worked in a design squad to start and in 2003, began working in the CADD Unit. I am presently the Lead CADD Operator in the CADD Unit and have been here since 2009. I became Vice-President of Chapter 5 IAHE in 2014 and President/Director in January 2015.

 

Rita Mathias, Vice-President

Operations ET IV – Communications (Operations)

I have been with IDOT for 21 Years in which I have worked in the Bureau of Program Development in Studies and Plans (design) and Traffic Studies; I also spent time in Construction and the last 13 years in Operations.  I am also a member of District 5 Emergency Management Team and a State Certified COML (Illinois Communications Leader). I spend most of my time away from work with my grandchildren, building, remodeling and outdoor activities.  I am also involved with Veterans Organizations Activities, including the Veterans Memorial Vigil held in Springfield, IL. I have a fabulous husband, 3 children and 8 grandchildren

Design Engineer-Studies & Plans

I graduated from Lake Land College in May of 2006 and I graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in May of 2009.  I started with IDOT District 7 in October of 2010.  While at District 7, I worked in Studies and Plans and then spent a season out in Construction.   I joined IAHE while I was still in District 7 and then transferred my membership to District 5 in December of 2011 when I accepted a position in the Bridge and Hydraulics Unit in Paris.  Since that time, I have earned my Professional Engineering license and I currently work as a Design Engineer in the Studies and Plans Unit.  I live just outside of Paris with my husband, Jason and our three sons, Colten (14), Conner (11), and Carter (2).   We enjoy spending time with our very active family.

 

Justin Cearlock, Trustee

CADD Unit Supervisor-Program Development

I have 13+ years with the Department and have worked as a designer, surveyor, Bridge and Hydraulics designer and Lead CADD Operator.

 

 

Derek Bridges, Trustee

Railroad Coordinator-Program Development

I am responsible for all railroad agreements and railroad coordination involving State highways projects in District 5. In June, I started in PD in Design for the first two years, and then took the RR Coordination position in Feb 2014. I have been with IDOT for three years.

 

 

Jason Ogle, Trustee

Equipment Technician-Bureau of Operations

I am responsible for supplying the Bureau of Operations with equipment for them to perform their daily task to keep the motoring public safe on our roadways. I started full time with IDOT in May of 2002 but did a 15 month Co-Op program through Lake Land College in 2001 with IDOT. I have worked in Program Development as a Designer, Construction on various projects as an inspector, and Operations. Most of my career has been with the Bureau of Operations. I worked as the Signal and Lighting Tech for several years prior to becoming the Equipment Tech which I started in 2012. My hobbies include racing, fishing, and bowling
